Chevrolet has revealed the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, calling it the most powerful and advanced Silverado ever built. Shaped by more than 100 years of truck expertise, the new Silverado is redesigned inside and out while keeping the V8 performance and dependability Chevy truck owners have trusted for generations. Here is what stands out from the reveal.
Two All-New V8s
Next-generation 5.7L and 6.6L V8 engines, now official at 402 and 481 horsepower. The 6.6L is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class, and the 5.7L delivers best-in-class max towing of 13,700 pounds.
Seven-Trim Lineup
A simplified, easier-to-shop range from the fleet-ready Work Truck to the flagship High Country, with three factory-lifted off-road trims for the first time.
Digital Interior
A standard 16.3-inch center display and 12.2-inch driver display anchor a modern cockpit that still keeps the physical buttons and knobs drivers use every day.
Bolder Design
An all-new exterior with new LED headlights and taillights, a more planted stance, and more monochromatic, premium styling across the lineup.
New From Grille To Tailgate
The 2027 Silverado introduces an all-new exterior with a bolder, more commanding stance and a more premium, monochromatic look. Chevrolet describes the design as a thoughtful evolution: unmistakably Silverado, but stronger and more modern at first glance.
New Lighting Signatures
New signature LED headlamps with a walk-up animation and full LED taillamps, supported by a black tailgate applique and a redesigned third brake light for added visibility.
Refined Aerodynamics
A cleaner, flush sliding rear window and a new spoiler give the truck a more refined, integrated look while improving aerodynamics. The spoiler also incorporates an integrated OnStar antenna.
Standard Dual Exhaust
Dual exhaust tips are standard on Custom and above, reinforcing a more refined yet authentically capable presence.
Wider, Tougher Stance
More pronounced wheel-opening moldings and rocker treatments, plus a bold new front fascia and grille, give the truck a wider on-road look and trim-specific character.
Four Engines. One Silverado.
The numbers are official. On September 17, 2026, GM released full output and capability figures for the 2027 Silverado 1500's four-engine lineup, led by two all-new sixth-generation Small Block V8s. Every engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the 6.6L V8 is the most powerful engine ever offered in a Silverado. Fuel economy ratings are still to come.
All-New 5.7L V8
Best-In-Class Max TowingThe return of the 350 cubic inch. Steps in for the outgoing 5.3L with more displacement, higher compression, and a dual-fuel injection system. Paired with the Max Trailering Package, it gives the Silverado 1500 the highest available tow rating of any light-duty truck in the segment.
All-New 6.6L V8
Most Powerful Silverado EverThe 400 cubic inch is back. Replacing the 6.2L, the new 6.6L is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class, built on the same 4.40-inch bore spacing every Small Block has shared since 1955. This is the engine for buyers who want the most power a Silverado has ever offered.
Enhanced 2.7L TurboMax
Best-In-Class Standard TorqueThe standard engine gains 40 horsepower and 25 lb-ft of torque over the outgoing TurboMax, thanks to a new turbocharger, upgraded fuel injection, improved thermal management, and redesigned pistons. Now on the 10-speed automatic for smoother shifts and stronger towing. It also carries the highest payload rating in the lineup.
Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel
Class-Exclusive DieselThe only diesel in the half-ton class returns with smooth, quiet operation and strong low-end torque for towing and long-distance driving. Paired with the new available 34-gallon tank, GM estimates a highway range of more than 900 miles. Durability updates include a next-generation NOx sensor and revised pistons, turbo vanes, sealing, and injectors.
Standard Across The Lineup: 10-Speed Automatic
Every 2027 Silverado 1500 engine, from the TurboMax to the 6.6L V8, is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission for 2027.
New 34-Gallon Tank: 900+ Mile Diesel Range
A new 34-gallon extended-range fuel tank is available on the 5.7L and 6.6L V8s and the Duramax diesel. On the diesel, GM estimates more than 900 miles of highway driving between fill-ups.
350 & 400 Cubic Inches Return
GM stretched the piston stroke 6 mm to grow the 5.3L and 6.2L into the 5.7L (350 cu in) and 6.6L (400 cu in), bringing two legendary Small Block displacements back to the Silverado.
More Air, More Compression
A higher compression ratio, larger throttle bodies, and new intake manifolds with tuned runners let the new V8s make more power from every combustion cycle.
Dual-Fuel Injection
Direct injection and port fuel injection work together, letting the engine operate in its best power, efficiency, and emissions windows across more driving conditions.
Built In Flint, Michigan
The first 5.7L and 6.6L V8s are assembled at GM's Flint Engine Operations, backed by more than 70 years of Small Block manufacturing and over 1.5 million miles of planned real-world validation before launch.

What Changed, And What Is Just Rumor
There is a lot of speculation online about the next-generation Silverado. Here are clear answers based on what Chevrolet and GM have actually confirmed so far.
LT Is Now "Silverado"
The trim formerly known as LT is now simply called Silverado for 2027. If you are searching for the 2027 LT, this is the trim you want.
RST, LTZ & LT Trail Boss Are Gone
The lineup was simplified for 2027. The RST, LTZ, and LT Trail Boss names are no longer part of the trim walk. Off-road buyers now choose Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, or ZR2.
This Is The Gas & Diesel Truck
The 2027 Silverado 1500 here uses V8, TurboMax, and Duramax diesel power. The Silverado EV is a separate, electric model. Chevrolet has not announced a hybrid version of this truck.
HD Is A Different Truck
The Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD are separate heavy-duty models with their own lineup. This page covers the light-duty Silverado 1500.
Pricing Is Not Out Yet
Chevrolet has not released MSRP or trim pricing for the 2027 Silverado 1500. Pricing and availability are expected later in 2026.
Engine Specs Are Official
GM released horsepower, torque, towing, and payload for all four engines on September 17, 2026. The figures in the Engines section above are official, not estimates. Fuel economy ratings have not been released yet.

When does the 2027 Silverado 1500 come out?
Chevrolet expects the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 to go on sale at the end of 2026. Bob Stall Chevrolet in La Mesa will carry it when it arrives, and current 2026 Silverado 1500 trucks are in stock now.
What engines does the 2027 Silverado 1500 have?
Four powertrains, all paired with a 10-speed automatic: an all-new 5.7L V8 (402 hp, 428 lb-ft), an all-new 6.6L V8 (481 hp, 501 lb-ft), an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax (350 hp, 455 lb-ft), and the segment-exclusive Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel (305 hp, 495 lb-ft).
What trims are available?
A seven-trim lineup: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, Silverado, ZR2, and High Country. The trim formerly called LT is now simply Silverado, and three trims are factory-lifted off-road models.
How much will it cost?
Chevrolet has not announced pricing. MSRP and availability will be released later in 2026. Contact Bob Stall Chevrolet to be notified when 2027 pricing and inventory are available.
Is it electric or a hybrid?
No. This is the gas and diesel Silverado 1500. The Silverado EV is a separate, electric model, and Chevrolet has not announced a hybrid version of this truck.
What is the towing capacity?
Up to 13,700 pounds, which Chevrolet says is best-in-class, with the 5.7L V8 and Max Trailering Package in a properly equipped Double Cab or 2WD Crew Cab Short Bed. The Duramax diesel tows up to 12,000 pounds, the 6.6L V8 up to 9,700, and the 2.7L TurboMax up to 9,400. Ratings vary by configuration. Super Cruise now offers hands-free driving while towing, a class exclusive.
