A Word About Packages
The 2026 Silverado 1500 is already genuinely well-equipped at every trim. Packages are real additions, not features that should have been standard. The Z71 Off-Road Package adds hardware that meaningfully changes how the truck performs off-pavement. The RST Select Package bundles accessories that most RST buyers would have added anyway. The ZR2 Bison is in a category of its own.
Worth knowing upfront: most packages must be ordered from the factory and cannot be added after purchase. If a specific package matters to you, make sure the truck you're buying has it, or let us order one for you.
One common question we hear a lot: does the Z71 package include a lift? The Z71 Off-Road Package adds off-road suspension tuning, skid plates, a locking rear differential, transfer case, exhaust, wheels, and tires. If you want the ground clearance of a lifted truck, the Trail Boss trims are built for that. We cover both on this page.

Z71 Off-Road Package
The most searched Silverado package for a reason. Z71 adds real off-road hardware to the LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country — without requiring a Trail Boss trim.
What's Included (RPO: Z71)
- Z71 off-road suspension tuning
- Hill descent control (JHD)
- Skid plates (NZZ)
- Heavy-duty air filter (K47)
- Auto-locking rear differential (G80)
- 2-speed Autotrac transfer case (NQH)
- Dual exhaust (N10) with V8 or diesel engines
- 18" Bright Silver painted aluminum wheels (LT, LTZ)
- 265/65R18 all-terrain tires
- Z71 badging
Availability Notes
- Requires 4WD model on all trims
- Not available with TurboMax engine (L3B)
- Not available with Max Trailering Package (NHT)
- On High Country: not available with Premium Package
- Custom TB and LT Trail Boss: Z71 hardware is built in standard — different suspension system
- ZR2 uses Multimatic DSSV dampers — not Z71
- Must be factory ordered, not dealer-installed
Best Trims to Pair With
- LT with Z71: best value off-road combination
- RST with Z71: sport look plus trail capability
- LTZ with Z71: premium interior, off-road capable
Bob Stall Take
Z71 is the package most buyers ask about first, and it delivers. What it gives you: a tuned suspension ready for uneven terrain, a locking rear diff for traction in loose conditions, skid plates for underside protection, and all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels. What it doesn't give you: a lift. If you want the ground clearance of a lifted truck, you want a Trail Boss trim. If you want genuine off-road capability on the LT, RST, or LTZ without changing your trim level, Z71 is the right move. San Diego County has more accessible trails within an hour of the dealership than most people realize — Laguna Mountains, Pine Valley, Corral Canyon, Borrego — and Z71 is how you get there without worrying about your suspension.
Trail Boss Suspension — The 2-Inch Lift
This is where the 2-inch factory lift lives. The Trail Boss suspension package (RPO: Z7X) is a separate system from the Z71 package. It is built into the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss as standard — it is not available as an add-on on any other trim.
What's Included (RPO: Z7X)
- 2-inch factory suspension lift
- Monotube shocks
- Hill descent control (JHD)
- Skid plates (NZZ)
- Heavy-duty air filter (K47)
- Z71 hard badge
- Auto-locking rear differential (G80)
- 2-speed Autotrac transfer case with Terrain Mode
- Red recovery hooks
Trail Boss vs. Z71 Package
- Trail Boss lift = 2 inches. Z71 package = no lift
- Trail Boss shocks = monotube. Z71 package shocks = off-road tuned, not monotube
- Trail Boss: built into trim. Z71: add-on package
- Custom TB: 18" High Gloss Black wheels standard
- LT Trail Boss: 20" High Gloss Black wheels standard
- Neither Trail Boss trim is available with TurboMax engine
Bob Stall Take
If you want the factory lift, you need a Trail Boss. The Custom Trail Boss at $52,900 gives you the full lifted off-road hardware at the most attainable price in the lineup. The LT Trail Boss at $59,700 adds the full LT cabin — 13.4-inch screen, push-button start, keyless entry — on top of the same lift and suspension. If you've been cross-shopping the LT Trail Boss and the LTZ, that's the right comparison: both are around $59,000, both are capable trucks, and they're built for completely different buyers. Call us at 619-460-1311 and we'll help you figure out which one fits your life.
RST Select Package New 2026

Best Color Pairings

Bob Stall Take
The RST Select Package is genuinely good value. The Gloss Black wheels and AT tires change the look of the truck significantly, the bedliner is something most buyers add anyway, and the floor liners are a practical daily-use addition. If you're shopping an RST, ask us which trucks on the lot already have it. In a market like San Diego where trucks are seen and driven year-round, the right wheel and tire combination makes a real difference every day.

San Diego Towing Note

Tell us what you're pulling and we'll spec the right axle ratio, cooling, and configuration before you sign anything. Call us at 619-460-1311 and ask for our truck team.

Best Color Pairings
- Black: full stealth, nothing competing
- Summit White: sharp contrast look
- Sterling Gray Metallic: subtle and aggressive
Bob Stall Take
The Midnight Edition on the LT Trail Boss is one of the most requested combinations we build. Black on black works everywhere in San Diego — on the coast on I-5, at a job site in Kearny Mesa, heading east on the 8 toward the mountains. It draws attention without being garish. For High Country buyers, the Midnight Edition is a way to give a luxury trim a more aggressive presence without any sacrifice in interior refinement. Note that the 2026 Custom Trail Boss no longer offers the Midnight Edition — if that's what you want, the LT Trail Boss is where to go.
Dark Appearance Package
The more accessible blackout option. Available on more trims than the Midnight Edition and does not require a specific exterior color.
What's Included (RPO: CWK)
- Black badging, decals, and exhaust tips
- Black recovery hooks (V76)
- Chevytec spray-on bedliner included
- RST: adds 20" High Gloss Black wheels (RD5)
- Dual exhaust with Black tips (with V8 or diesel)
- Must be factory ordered
Available Trims
- Custom: entry-level blackout look
- RST: most popular — includes Gloss Black wheels
- Custom Trail Boss: adds to already-aggressive look
- LT Trail Boss: requires Protection Package
- ZR2: available, exhaust ends under bumper
Bob Stall Take
Great choice on the RST or Custom if you want a sport-aggressive look without moving up a full trim level. Dark accents on the RST in Sterling Gray Metallic or Riptide Blue Metallic give you a coastal sport look that holds up in every light. On the ZR2, the Dark Appearance Package pushes an already purposeful-looking truck into something that makes a statement before you even open the door.
ZR2 Bison Special Edition
AEV-engineered and factory-built. Not a sticker package. The most capable Silverado 1500 you can order.
AEV Additions (RPO: ULV)
- AEV front bumper with integrated D-ring mounts
- AEV rear bumper
- AEV front differential skid plate
- AEV rear differential skid plate
- AEV transfer case skid plate

- AEV branded floor liners

- Max Trailering Package not available on ZR2
Best Color Pairings
- Cypress Gray: stops people in their tracks
- Riptide Blue Metallic: bold and purposeful
- Black: full stealth, absolute presence
- Red Hot: the statement version
Bob Stall Take
The Bison is for the buyer who genuinely needs the most capable truck Chevrolet builds and is not making excuses about it. San Diego County has some of the best accessible technical off-road terrain in the country within an hour of the dealership — Anza-Borrego, the Laguna Mountains, Corral Canyon OHV, the trails off S2. The AEV bumpers, skid plates, and differentials are not cosmetic — they are the hardware that lets you run that terrain without worrying about what you're going to hit or whether you can get unstuck. If this is you, call us and we'll locate or order one. These move fast.
*Towing figures from 2026 GM Trailering Guide. Maximum conventional towing 8,800 lbs on CC10543 Crew Cab Short Bed. Maximum gooseneck / 5th wheel towing 6,000 lbs on CK10543 4WD Crew Cab Short Bed with Duramax engine. Ratings assume standard equipped vehicle and driver. Optional equipment, passengers and cargo reduce maximum trailer weight.
