Everything You Need to Know About the Chevrolet Trax

Honestly? It Surprises People.
We hear it all the time at Bob Stall. Someone comes in thinking the Trax is just the budget option - and then they sit in it. The interior is nicer than they expected. The tech is better than they expected. And the price is still exactly what they hoped for.
The Chevrolet Trax is a compact SUV that doesn’t ask you to make sacrifices. Whether you’re commuting on the 8, finding parking downtown, or loading up for a weekend in Julian or Anza-Borrego - it handles San Diego life without breaking a sweat. Or your budget.
We’ve been selling Trax models in La Mesa for years, and we can honestly say: it’s one of the best values on our lot, period.

From 2015 to Today - A Model That Keeps Getting Better
The Chevrolet Trax first arrived in the United States for the 2015 model year. It came in at the right time - buyers were shifting away from sedans, and Chevrolet gave them an affordable, practical SUV option that didn’t feel like a compromise.
The original generation ran through 2022 and built a solid reputation. Then for 2024, Chevrolet rebuilt the Trax from scratch - new platform, bold new exterior, a much more modern interior, and a turbocharged engine that actually makes it fun to drive. The redesigned Trax earned serious attention from automotive press and shoppers alike.
The 2026 Trax carries that momentum forward, adding two new exterior colors and continuing to offer one of the most complete feature sets in its class - starting from a price that still makes sense for real people.
Five Trims. One for Every Driver.
The Trax comes in five trim levels - each one built around a different kind of buyer. Not sure which one is right for you? That’s what we’re here for.
Don’t let “base trim” fool you. Standard safety tech, 8" touchscreen, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and 17" steel wheels. More than you’d expect.
Black bowtie emblems, black grille insert, flat-bottom steering wheel, heated seats, and 18" black aluminum wheels. Looks like it costs more than it does.
Upgraded to an 11" touchscreen, automatic climate control, push-button start, keyless entry, and an 8-way power driver seat. The sweet spot.
Everything in the LT, plus heated steering wheel, power lumbar support, and 19" black aluminum wheels. For buyers who want it all.
Unique body-color grille, titanium chrome accents, roof rails, and a look that stands apart. For people who actually use their SUV like an SUV.
What You Get No Matter Which Trim You Choose
Here’s something we appreciate about the Trax: Chevrolet didn’t hide the good stuff behind higher trims. These features come standard across the entire lineup.
Chevy Safety Assist
Six standard safety features on every Trax: Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Alert, IntelliBeam auto high-beams, and Following Distance Indicator. You don’t pay extra for safety here.
Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto
No cable, no hassle. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every trim. Some competitors still charge extra for this. Chevy doesn’t.
ECOTEC 1.2L Turbo Engine
137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. EPA-rated 28 city / 32 highway MPG. It’s more fun to drive than those numbers suggest.
OnStar & Wi-Fi Hotspot
OnStar Basics is included for 8 years, covering Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, and Roadside Assistance. Available Wi-Fi Hotspot capability keeps passengers connected wherever you go.
Teen Driver
Standard on every trim. Set speed alerts, limit audio volume, get an in-vehicle report card after each trip. If you’re buying a Trax for a younger driver, this feature alone is worth knowing about.
More Cargo Room Than You’d Expect
25.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat. Fold the rear seat down and that grows to 54.1 cubic feet. For a compact SUV, that’s genuinely useful - not just on paper.
Trax at a San Diego Location ]
We’ve Been Doing This Since 1959.
Bob Stall opened his dealership in La Mesa in 1959 with a simple belief: that buying a car should feel exciting, not stressful. He left a steady career at General Motors to take a leap of faith - and built something that’s still here more than 60 years later.
We’re still family-owned. Tom and John Stall run the dealership today alongside a team that, honestly, feels more like family than coworkers. We’ve served generations of San Diego families - parents who bought their first Chevy here, and now their kids coming back for theirs.
Bob’s philosophy still drives everything we do: “You’re going to get a good deal, and a good deal more.” No pressure. No games. Just real help finding the right vehicle for your life.
Proudly serving San Diego, Santee, Chula Vista, and El Cajon.
