Chevrolet Trax 2026 Colors
Color Matters More Than People Think
We hear it all the time - someone comes in with their mind made up on a color, sits next to a different one in natural San Diego light, and completely changes course. It happens more than you'd expect. That's not a knock on people's judgment - it's just the reality that screens can't replicate what paint actually looks like in person.
The 2026 Trax lineup has a genuinely strong color selection. Two new additions for this year - Apex Red and White Sands - and a full lineup of returning colors that each have their own personality. Three of the seven have a non-metallic finish that a lot of people are surprised to discover they prefer.
A few things worth knowing before you decide: not every color is available on every trim. Some are trim-exclusive and a few carry specific restrictions. The availability table below lays it all out clearly so there are no surprises.
Our honest advice - if you're deciding between two or three colors, come see them before you commit. We have Trax models on the lot in La Mesa and natural San Diego light is the only honest test. Call us at 619-460-1311 or check our hours before you head in.
Two Fresh Colors Join the Lineup
Chevrolet added two new exterior colors for the 2026 model year. Both have been popular since launch - and both look even better in person than in the photos.
Apex Red
A deep, bold red with serious presence. Not a bright cherry red - more of a rich, intentional statement color. Apex Red is available on the LS, 1RS, LT, and 2RS. Not available on the ACTIV.
Available on: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS
White Sands
A warm, clean white with a non-metallic finish that photographs beautifully and looks crisp against the black trim details on the RS and ACTIV trims. A welcome alternative to Summit White's cooler tone.
Available on: 1RS, 2RS, ACTIV

Metallic vs Non-Metallic - What's the Difference?
Three of the seven 2026 Trax colors - Apex Red, White Sands, and Cypress Gray - have a non-metallic finish, along with Summit White. A lot of customers aren't sure what this means or which they'd prefer. Here's the honest breakdown.
Metallic Finish
Metallic paint has tiny metal flakes mixed into the pigment that catch light and create a subtle shimmer. In direct sunlight the color shifts and sparkles slightly. Most mainstream car colors are metallic - it's what most people picture when they think of a "car color." On the Trax: Mosaic Black Metallic, Marina Blue Metallic, and Sterling Gray Metallic.
Non-Metallic Finish
Non-metallic (sometimes called solid) paint has no metal flakes. The color is consistent and even in all light - no shimmer, no shift. It tends to look cleaner and more intentional. It's a look that's become genuinely popular in the last few years because it feels more distinctive. On the Trax: Apex Red, White Sands, Summit White, and Cypress Gray.
Which Holds Value Better?
In general, neutral non-metallic colors like Summit White and White Sands hold resale value well because they appeal to the widest pool of buyers. Metallic colors like Marina Blue and Sterling Gray also tend to hold value well. Apex Red and Cacti Green are more personality-driven - they attract buyers who specifically want that color, which can work in your favor or against you depending on market conditions.
Cacti Green - Worth Mentioning
Cacti Green is in a category of its own. It's available exclusively on the ACTIV trim at an extra cost - and it stops people in their tracks. The non-metallic finish gives it a matte-adjacent look that's genuinely unlike anything else on the road. If you want a Trax that nobody else has, Cacti Green on the ACTIV is the answer.
Which Colors Come on Which Trims?
Not every color is available on every trim. Here's the complete breakdown so you can plan your order before you come in.

Colors and San Diego Life
San Diego is one of the best places in the country to own a bold-colored car. 300+ days of sunshine means your Trax is almost always seen in natural light - which is exactly how colors are meant to be seen. Apex Red looks exceptional in direct California sun. Marina Blue Metallic shifts beautifully on overcast coastal days near La Jolla or Ocean Beach.
White and light gray colors also have a practical advantage in San Diego - they stay cooler in the sun. If your Trax sits in a parking lot at the beach or in La Mesa during July, Summit White and White Sands absorb less heat than darker options. It's a small thing but worth knowing.
Cypress Gray and Cacti Green are the two colors that consistently surprise people the most in person. Both have that non-metallic finish that looks almost matte in flat light and comes alive in direct sun. If you're on the fence about either, we'd genuinely encourage you to see them before you rule them out.
And if you're buying a Trax for resale or as a lease vehicle, Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, and Sterling Gray Metallic are your safest choices. They appeal to the widest range of future buyers and tend to hold their value well in the San Diego market.
