Meet Patrick

He Came to San Diego for Boot Camp.

Patrick Duffey was born and raised in Wisconsin. He came to San Diego for one specific reason in the mid-1980s: USMC boot camp. Eight years in the Marine Corps later — boot camp here, then stationed at Camp Pendleton — he made the same call thousands of military families make in this part of California. He stayed.

Forty years in San Diego now. Coronado has been home for a long stretch, and the Marine Corps connection runs through everything outside of work. Patrick is the founding member and Commandant of the Marine Corps League Coronado Detachment. He's actively involved with the Coronado VFW. And he coached Pop Warner football in Coronado for eight years — three of those as president of the local program. The service mentality didn't end when his enlistment did.

Patrick joined Bob Stall in 2017 after 14 years selling Chevrolets at another dealership. The person who brought him over was Jack Atkins — Bob Stall's now-retired service manager — who knew Patrick from the industry and recruited him onto the service drive. Eight years on, Patrick is GM Certified, a multi-year Mark of Excellence recipient, and the kind of service advisor customers ask for by name.

His approach is the same posture he brought from the Corps: clear, honest communication, and the goal of making the repair process feel safe, easy, and reliable. After 22 years in the industry, that's the formula that keeps customers coming back.

"An advisor who offers peace of mind."

— Patrick Duffey, Service Advisor

Patrick's job description in his own words. Clear honest communication. A repair process that feels safe, easy, and reliable. After 22 years in the industry — and eight in the Marine Corps before that — the consistency of his approach is exactly what customers come back for.

Expertise

Twenty-Two Years. Marine Corps Discipline.

Patrick's 22 years on service drives — combined with eight years of Marine Corps discipline before that — translate to something customers feel the moment they walk up to the counter. The plan gets communicated clearly. The timeline gets respected. The repair gets done. After two decades of doing this work, the formula doesn't have surprises in it.

Local Connection

Coronado for Forty Years.

Patrick has been in San Diego for 40 years. His arrival was specific — Marine Corps boot camp in the mid-1980s — and Coronado has been home for a long stretch since. He'll tell you what he loves about San Diego in one line: it does not snow here. Growing up in Wisconsin, that's the line.

Weekends in Coronado look the way Coronado weekends are supposed to. Patrick parks the car and rides his bike or drives his golf cart around the island. Forty years in, the routine is dialed in.

When customers ask Patrick for a recommendation, he sends them west. Lunch at Mitch's Seafood — the spot behind Point Loma sportfishing, the kind of place that feels like an actual San Diego harbor. Then a drive up to the Cabrillo National Monument. A walk, the views, the harbor laid out below. The whole afternoon adds up to one of those San Diego days that's hard to plan but easy to remember.

Working out of La Mesa keeps him a manageable distance from Coronado and central to service customers across San Diego County.

Favorite Local Spots

  • Mitch's Seafood — behind Point Loma sportfishing
  • Cabrillo National Monument — afternoon drive after lunch

Where He's Based

  • Lives in Coronado
  • 40 years in San Diego
  • Originally from Wisconsin
  • Works in La Mesa — central county
Outside of Work

Marine Corps League. Coronado VFW. Pop Warner Coach.

Outside of work, Patrick's life is service-shaped. He's a founding member and current Commandant of the Marine Corps League Coronado Detachment — the local chapter of one of the country's oldest Marine veteran organizations. He's also actively involved with the Coronado VFW. After eight years in the Marine Corps and 40 in Coronado, the military community is the community.

He also coached Pop Warner football in Coronado for eight years — three of those as president of the local program. Eight years of weekends spent coaching kids in the same town where his kids' coaches probably coached him. When time allows, he gets out on the water to go fishing — Mitch's Seafood is right there for a reason.

On the road, Patrick currently owns three Chevrolets. After 22 years in the brand, he doesn't drive the competition.
