Our history goes back to 1959, when Robert “Bob” Stall, who had been a District Manager for General Motors, took a leap of faith. He left a steady career with a family to support and decided to open his own Chevrolet dealership in La Mesa, CA. That bold move set the foundation for what we’ve become today. We have been serving San Diego drivers for more than 60 years.
In the early years, the dealership was located on Baltimore Avenue before moving to our current home on Alvarado Road. The decision to move wasn’t just about space—it was about making a commitment to offer our customers the best possible facility in the area. Since arriving at our Alvarado Road location, we’ve continued to invest in upgrades and redesigns to make sure our customers enjoy a modern, comfortable, and welcoming experience every time they visit.
What makes us truly different from most car dealers in the area is that we’re still family-owned and operated. The Stall family’s dedication continues today, with multiple generations involved in the dealership’s daily operations. Tom and John Stall lead as Dealer Operators, alongside long-time staff members who have become like extended family. That family-first mindset isn’t just how we run the business, it’s how we take care of our customers too.
Bob himself summed up our philosophy best with a phrase that became part of who we are: “You’re going to get a good deal, and a good deal more.” Those words weren’t just a catchy slogan—they were a promise. A promise that when you choose Bob Stall Chevrolet, you’ll always get more than a car. You’ll get care, support, and a dealership team that goes above and beyond.

From La Mesa Oktoberfest to the Lakeside Rodeo, supporting the San Diego State Aztecs, and sponsoring more junior baseball teams than we can count—we’ve always believed in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many decades.
